Are reservations required to rent a snowmobile or ATVs?

No, but we strongly recommend them. Walk-ins are welcome, but there is no guarantee we will have machines available.

What do I need to do to make a reservation?

Please call us to check availability or check online. We will need: name, phone number, and credit card to make a reservation. You can also fill make a reservation online.

What are your business hours?

We are open daily 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during our Summer/Winter season.

How old do you have to be to rent a snowmobile or ATV?

You must be 21 (twenty one) years old to rent a snowmobile or ATV

How old do you have to be to drive a snowmobile or ATV?

You must be 18 (eighteen) years old with a valid drivers license in your possession to drive a snowmobile or ATV. NO EXCEPTIONS.

What do I need to bring snowmobiling?

Gloves, Goggles, Drivers License, Credit Card, Sun Screen, Camera. Please dress in layers. We no longer provide Gloves and Goggles with rentals.

What do I need to bring ATVing?

Drivers License, Credit Card, Eye Protection (required), Sunscreen, Camera. Please wear long pant. Open toed shoes will not be allowed. Be prepared with a jacket, raingear and a sweatshirt.

What is your snowmobile season?

We rent snowmobiles as early as November 25th thru April 1st (weather permitting).

What is you ATV season?

We rent ATVs May 25th thru October 1st (weather permitting). The US Forest Service governs our trail system, so they open and close the system when they feel necessary.

How old do I need have to be to rent a Slingshot?

You must be at least 25 years old to rent and drive the slingshot.

What should I bring for a Slingshot Rental?

Long sleeve Shirt / Jacket, Long Pants, Gloves, Close-toed Shoes, Sumglasses, Sunscreen, Drivers License / Major Credit Card

Where can I ride the Slingshot?

Any paved highway within 250 miles of our rental location (i.e. Estes Park, Winter Park, Steamboat Springs, Breckinridge, Rocky Mountain National Park, Grand Lake)

What time should I check in for a reservation?

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your reservation time.

How many miles of trails do you have?

We have approximately 130 miles of groomed trails.

Do you offer insurance to cover damages?

No, you will be held responsible for all damages. You will also be held responsible for retrieval of machines (for non mechanical reasons) and loss of rent.

Do you take a damage deposit?

Yes, deposits are necessary for all machines. Please arrive with a major credit card (Visa, Mastercard, or Discover) for deposits. Debit Cards and American Express will not be allowed for Damage Deposits.

What type of payments do you take?

We take Cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and Debit Cards when paying for your rental. Checks will not be accepted.

What type of helmets do you offer?

We have motorcross and open-face style helmets for you to wear. Goggles will be available to purchase.

Do you offer refunds due to weather?

No, please be prepared for all weather conditions.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

On The Trail Rentals requires FULL payment when making a reservation. On The Trail Rentals allows a one (1) time date change to the reservation prior to 48 hours of the rental date. Cancellations may be made up to 48 hours of the rental date. On The Trail Rentals refunds all but 15% of the reservation as a processing fee for cancellations. Any cancellations within 48 hours of the rental date or no-shows, On The Trail Rentals keeps the entire amount of the rental.

Is there a weight limit?

Yes, 400 pounds per machine.

Can 3 people ride on one machine?

Yes, we have a double passenger snowmobile capable of taking 3 riders (triple). The total weight of the 3 riders must be less than 400 pounds. There is an additional fee of $50 per machine. Reservations are required due to limited availability.

Can multiple people / families share a machine(s)?

No, we do not allow multiple families/ people share a machine. We want everyone to rent accordingly and be responsible for their own machines during their rental duration.

How can we find On The Trail Rentals?

On The Trail Rentals is located at 1447 County Road 491, Grand Lake CO 80447. Written Directions can be found at Your GPS may or may not get you to our location. Please make plans in advance to find our location.

Do you have Multiday Rates and/or do you allow overnight rentals.

Yes, we do have Multiday Rates and allow Overnight Rentals. You must call for pricing and details.

Is there a map of the trail system available online?

Yes. You can either view the maps on our website through the Trail Maps page or you can download CO TREX (Colorado Trail Explorer) on your phone through the app store. Download now for iPhone or Android
