We are open daily 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during our Summer/Winter season.

The Minimum Age to Rent a Snowmobile or Side by Side Without a Parent on the ride is 25 years old. Drivers must be 18 years old with valid Driver’s License. Drivers between the ages of 18 and 24 must be accompanied by their parents.

Gloves, Goggles, Driver’s License, Credit Card, Sunscreen, Camera. Please dress in layers. We no longer provide gloves or goggles with rentals.

Driver’s License, Credit Card, Eye Protection (required), Sunscreen, Camera. Please wear long pants. Open toed shoes will not be allowed. Be prepared with a jacket, raingear, and a sweatshirt.

We rent snowmobiles November 25th- April 1st (weather permitting). Early and Late Season riding is all weather and snow depth dependent. The Grand Lake Trailgroomers have minimum snow depths that are required to groom trails. Signage of trails and meadows are provided by the Grand Lake Trailgroomers and they must be on the mountain to allow for safe snowmobiling.

We rent Side by Sides (RZR) June 15th – October 1st (weather permitting). The US Forest Service governs our trail system, and the gates get opened on June 15th.

You must be at least 25 years old to rent and drive the slingshot.

No, however we are offering an accidental coverage waiver with deductibles this season. The included protection is where the renter is responsible for the first $1,500 of any damages to the vehicle. (This includes parts and labor.) There is also a Premier Protection where the renter is responsible for the first $750 of any damages to the vehicle (Including parts and labor.) Yes, deposits are necessary for all machines. Please arrive with a major credit card (Visa, Mastercard, or Discover) for deposits. Debit Cards and American Express will not be allowed for Damage Deposits.

We take Cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and Debit Cards when paying for your rental. Checks will not be accepted.

We have motocross and open-face style helmets for you to wear. Goggles will be available to purchase.

On The Trail Rentals requires FULL payment when making a reservation. On The Trail Rentals allows a one (1) time date change to the reservation prior to 72 hours of the rental date. Cancellations may be made up to 72 hours of the rental date. On The Trail Rentals refunds all but 15% of the reservation as a processing fee for cancellations. Any cancellations within 72 hours of the rental date or no-shows, On The Trail Rentals keeps the entire amount of the rental. We DO NOT accept any changes or cancellations within the 72-hour window and no refunds will be given for any reason. This includes but is not limited to COVID, sickness, weather, road conditions, traffic, travel delays, road closures, accidents, family emergencies, lack of transportation, exposure, or distance of travel. These events are completely out of our control. Unless our local health officials deem otherwise, our cancellation policy will not change.

We are all aware of the risks with COVID and other Sicknesses (Flu, RSV, Colds, Runny Noses, Fever, etc.). On The Trail Rentals is doing everything we can to stay operating and providing activities to the public. You, just like us, are taking financial risks and may encounter inconvenient changes to your plans. On The Trail Rentals will not be held responsible for these inconveniences. On The Trail Rentals recommends and encourages all customers to protect their travel investment by purchasing travel insurance from a 3rd party.

No, we no longer offer triple passenger snowmobiles. Snowmobile manufacturers no longer make machines to accommodate 3 riders and we must follow their recommendations and guidelines.

No, we do not allow multiple families/ people to share a machine. We want everyone to rent accordingly and be responsible for their own machines during their rental duration. Liability Waivers are required for each participant.

On the Trail Rentals has a ZERO tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol (medicinal or recreational). If we suspect, smell, or see drugs or alcohol when you arrive or while using our equipment you will be asked to leave immediately. It is a liability and hazardous to customers and staff members. You and your party will forfeit your entire rental and NO REFUNDS will be given. If you or your party arrive and smell like a skunk you will be turned away.

Private guided tours will be available if we have enough staff members to provide this service. We only offer 2 hour guided tours when available. The cost of the guided tours is calculated by renting the machines you would like to ride plus a flat rate guide fee.

We take your private party on a 2-hour ride. The guide is your trail map. Distance is determined by the party’s ability. We normally ride 15-40 miles. You drive the snowmobile and are responsible for your diving ability and the choices you make while driving. We try to get you into 1 or more open meadows and find great spots to take pictures. We take pictures of you and your party with your phone/camera. We assist with people that get stuck (you get to help too-it’s fun). We don’t allow hill climbing, excessive speeds, or reckless driving on our guided tour. We bring you back to the lodge, swap stories about our adventure, give you a high five and answer any questions you have about the Grand Lake community.

The recommended minimum age to be a passenger on a snowmobile is 4-5 years old. All passengers must sit behind the driver and have the strength and stamina to independently hold on for the duration of the ride. Children riding in front of the driver is strictly prohibited and will not be allowed.
